- The National Cancer Institute allocates less than 4% of its annual $5.1 Billion budget to pediatric cancer research
- There has only been 1 drug approved by the FDA in the past 20 years for any pediatric cancer
- Pharmaceutical companies do NOT invest in pediatric oncology treatments. They are not motivated financially to do so.
CHILDREN'S NATIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
- The #1 childhood Cancer Center in the region
- CNMC treats patients from all over the world
- Over 250 new patients are diagnosed with pediatric cancer at Children's National each year (roughly 5 new patients per week)
- CNMC diagnoses and treats more kids with cancer than Johns Hopkins, Georgetown Lombardi and Inova Fairfax combined
- Children's National has over 12,000 visits annually from children with cancer who are currently being treated
